Info Post
I'm a firm believer in birthday week.  Birthdays should be celebrated all week long just in case your birthday lands on a lame day like Wednesday.  Everyone deserves weekend celebrations.  And so, we've been celebrating David's birthday all week long.

We started off the week going to his home in Duncan to celebrate with family.  Lots of Monopoly Deal, long conversation about nutrition and health (that's just what happens), and a BBQ celebration.

I gave David a coupon book with one activity for each day of birthday week: movie night at home, picnic in the living room, ballroom dancing in the kitchen, a round of ping-pong, a night of stargazing, dinner at a fancy restaurant, and a foot massage.  The first evening, we watched Brave but then somehow ended up at Pinkitzel for cupcakes.  I wanted cupcakes but David wanted to stay in and make cookies.  I guess I won because we determined that it was a bad idea to have dozens of cookies lying around the house; we'd just have to eat them, and our new years resolutions would be thrown out the window.

David spent his actual birthday studying antibiotics.  He even told me that he enjoyed it.  It's these kinds of people who become doctors. But before he headed off for school, we ate cinnamon rolls with home-made cream cheese frosting.  He blew out the candles, and Lil and I sang the song.  In the afternoon, he headed off to the gym to play basketball while I got all gussied up with my smokey eye-shadow and turquoise wedges.  David came home and hopped in the shower, and then we headed over to Kylie and Luke's to drop off Miss Lil.

Then, we were home free for the night.  We went to the beautiful Paseo art district for dinner.  There were quaint little patios in front of every restaurant, twinkling lights strung throughout the street, and stucco mission-style arches on every building.  It was very romantic.  Dinner was at the cozy Picasso Cafe.  We ate quinoa tacos topped with fresh lettuce and guacamole, baked chicken in a blue cheese risotto, and quiche with a side of arugula.  Then I gave David his present: two tickets to a Thunder game against the Kings.  That means Jimmer.  And we're hoping he'll do more than just sit on the bench when we go in April.

For his birthday dessert, David wanted ice cream.  So to Sonic we went for a hand-mixed caramel shake.  And because David is quite the lover of all things grocery store, we went to the giant Whole Foods Market just to look around.  We sampled expensive Boston cheddar cheese, eyed the hand-churned chocolate peanut butter, and looked in awe at the olive buffet (literally like 30 types of olives).  Quite the adventure.  David left the store saying, "if I become a rich doctor one day, I'll shop here." Afterwards, we headed back to Kylie and Luke's house for a relaxing finish of hot tubbing under the stars.  We are so grateful that Kylie and Luke could watch little Lil, and I know she had the greatest time with them.

Lily and I are so grateful to have David in our lives; we are just the luckiest girls.
