Info Post
Our first excursion was to Progreso, Mexico.  Never heard of it?  We hadn't either.  But it's a fun resort area close to Cozumel and Cancun.  Our tour guide met us right off the ship and took us to our first stop to see wild flamingos! If you look closely, you can see them in the background of our pictures.

Our next stop was to the Mayan ruins!  Our tour guide taught us that the Mayan people were actually very civilized with their own tributary system.  One of the largest ruins we saw is a temple where they buried the people who had sacrificed themselves.  The Mayans believed that if they sacrificed themselves, they could gain a better living situation in their next life on earth.

Our last stop was to a private beach resort!  The beach was beautiful, and hardly anyone was there.   We were served a traditional Mexican buffet of beans, rice, pico de gallo, nachos, and homemade corn tortillas.  The food was amazing, probably my favorite part.  We spent a bit of time in the ocean and then headed over to the private pool.  The resort was very relaxing and much needed after a hot day in the sun.  After our 5 hour excursion, we headed back to our lovely cruise ship!
