Info Post
I used to sew a lot in high school.  Skirts, purses, dresses, you name it.  Now, it's time to make things for Lily. My first project: a blanket/quilt to match her room.

After being away from my sewing machine for several years, I realized that I was out of practice, and I felt like a beginner again.  Here are my suggestions to anyone who wants to begin sewing (it's never took late):

1. Watch youtube videos of sewing demos if you're not 100% sure how to do something.  I watched about 4 before I felt confident enough to sew the binding on this blanket.
2. Start with something simple.  Don't start by trying to sew a quilt for your boyfriend.  Make something small like a receiving blanket that will give you good practice before you spend lots of money and effort on a project that ends up looking like a potato sack. Get practice.
3. Iron everything before you sew or cut.  Don't be lazy.  Your project will turn out a lot neater if you remember this little step.
4. If you've never sewed before, start now.  Rent a sewing machine from your stake center or borrow one from a friend, so you're in good practice before you start making something special.

After three days of sewing, Lily and I (but mostly me) are off to clean our apartment.
