This week, Lily and I realized what it will be like when she's actually ready to come. Last weekend, my ribcage and sternum were hurting every time I took a deep breath. I assumed the pain was caused by the increased pressure I've been feeling since Lily is growing bigger (she's about 4 lbs. now :) I didn't think it was a big deal, but I called my doctor just to check. She told me to go to the hospital immediately because it could be a blood clot. Yikes. I called David (he was on campus studying), and he met me at the hospital. After an EKG scan, chest X-ray, blood work, and 8 hours of sitting in a hospital bed, it turned out that nothing was wrong. Thank goodness. This experience helped me realize that even though I drive by our hospital several times a week and it's only 3 blocks away, when I get nervous I totally forget how to find it. Also, I got to listen to Lily's heartbeat for several hours straight, and I loved that. I'm very grateful that nothing is wrong with me, and Lily and I are doing just fine. I'm also grateful for a husband who sat in the hospital with me for eight hours even though nothing turned out wrong. The experience turned out to be good practice for us all.
